Jill & Kevin's Hedge Trimmer



We saw on Facebook that there was to be a new ‘Repair Café, Seaton’ opening in Seaton library and so, on Saturday morning we took our cordless hedge trimmer along on the off chance it could be repaired – it worked albeit intermittently. We had a lovely greeting from Aileen and Melissa. Our details were taken, a form completed and then we were shown to the appropriate workstation. We met with Paul and Eric who worked their magic accessing the inner workings of the hedge trimmer, checking the electrics with meters, then after a clean-up and putting it back together the hedge trimmer was tested and worked beautifully. Thanks to all the volunteers for making this great initiative happen in our little town.

On Saturday 12 October we had our biggest and busiest Repair Café to date, with 35 items brought in for repair!  Thank you to everyone who came and thank you for your fabulous feedback - we do appreciate the feedback.  As always, we had an interesting collection of items in for repair, which included:          - a reel to reel 35mm projector...               - a Victorian set of weighing scales...               - a christmas decoration...          - a pair of trainers which needed the soles partly regluing...          - a fancy table lamp base... There was also a dementia cat toy, u mbrella, a ir fryer, t oaster, b lender, w oodwork router, small table and g arden tools, plus the  usual bags, items of clothing, teddy bears, vacuum cleaners, radios  and sewing machines. Fixtastic start for Seaton Repair Cafe

Seaton Repair Cafe (SRC) held its first event on Saturday 13th July in Seaton Library and it was a great success. MP Richard Foord, who is a supporter of Repair Cafes, opened the event. Seaton Town Mayor and Council Chairman, Cllr Amrik Singh attended along with Seaton Town Cllrs Neil Dyke & Cheryl Wood. 17 volunteers were helping on the day, including 8 menders, one of which was Seaton Town Cllr Eric Bowman.   Amrik Singh Seaton Town Council, Richard Foord MP, Aileen Heal Seaton Repair Cafe, Helen Vines, CAG Devon 17 items were booked in including vacuum cleaners, a hedge trimmer, a grass cutter, garden shears, a sewing machine, rucksacks, clothing, table lamps, curling tong and jewellery. SRC was delighted to return the sparkle to the fairy lights of the wicker reading pod in the children’s section of Seaton Library.
