Teddy Repairs

Image
My daughters birthday treat was a brand new teddy and after a few days sadly the stitching became undone and she was broken hearted, we had seen the repair cafe and how friendly everyone was so we decided to ask for some help!  We met an amazing experienced seamstress  who not only fixed the teddy but also showed me how to do it next time!  It was a great way to share a skill. My other daughter brought along a very sad toy dog who was partially be headed! Who is now living life to the full again , she was so happy to have him fixed with a little bit of re stuffing to , he is a very loved dog. We Had a lovely experience meeting some wonderful volunteers who made us feel very welcome 🤗

Lucinda's Sewing Machine

"My sewing machine had been broken for over 10 years. I couldn't get it repaired as it was so old but I brought it along to the repair cafe and was shown how to repair it by Paul so I can make sure it never happens again. It took about 20 mins. I am so delighted, I use my machine weekly and it is now running at 100% after all these years. What an excellent service and what an asset to sustainable living in Seaton."

We brought the sparkle back to the library

The fairy lights in the reading pod in the children's section of Seaton Library haven't worked for a long time 😭. Fortunately, Paul, one of our menders was able to fix them and bring the sparkle back to the library 😍.

Jill & Kevin's Hedge Trimmer

Image
We saw on Facebook that there was to be a new ‘Repair Café, Seaton’ opening in Seaton library and so, on Saturday morning we took our cordless hedge trimmer along on the off chance it could be repaired – it worked albeit intermittently. We had a lovely greeting from Aileen and Melissa. Our details were taken, a form completed and then we were shown to the appropriate workstation. We met with Paul and Eric who worked their magic accessing the inner workings of the hedge trimmer, checking the electrics with meters, then after a clean-up and putting it back together the hedge trimmer was tested and worked beautifully. Thanks to all the volunteers for making this great initiative happen in our little town. Jill and Kevin.
